Time to find the write way to take it easy.
Have you ever had an experience where someone just told you, ”Relax. Everything will be just fine,” and you've reacted by tensing up instead? Your jaw has clinched and your breathing has spun a grumble in the back of your throat.
Funny how during intense moments, words from someone like ‘stay calm’, feels more like they’re mocking you than supporting you. However the fact still remains that staying calm is actually the best advice you could ever get from them. Could you imagine if your friend said, “Oh, go on, get all worked up! Yeah, right here in the street, have a big hissy fit.” There is one positive thing from that kind of advice - your jaw wouldn’t be tense, as it would be dropped in disbelief.
So, when a loving friend isn't around to tweak your memory on the fundamentals of stress management, what's a girl to do? Well, maybe it's a good idea to fill your home and office with some reminders. That way whenever your heart starts racing or you palms go sweaty during a nerve wracking telephone conversation, all you’d have to do is look at your mug, see one of the phrases like 'pause', 'compose yourself', take a sip of it's warm contents, and 'be at ease'. Or how about it's the end of the day, you're exhausted, yet your survival mind just won't let up on what the evening hours should entail with ideas about preparing dinner, ironing clothes for work, watering the plants, paying bills, on and on... Why not 'chill out' and 'have a siesta' on a pillow. Who knows maybe the wording, via osmosis, might imprint on your dreams and you'll awake as 'cool as a cucumber'.
Easy concept to grasp — the trick is keeping in mind all the ways to do it. Hope these expressions can help you with that.
That's all for now.
